Travel Planning

Is Your Passport in Date?

Here's a question for you: Have you ever thought about giving it all up - the current job you work in, or the life you are living (or not living) everyday?

Imagine how you would feel if you took the brave step to really change your work/life situation. Are you ready to give it all up and do this? Or is the real world out there just too scary? Become an explorer, that's it. Make your decision, pack your bags, grab your passport (as you were asked earlier in the article title) and head off into the sunset. It's really that easy. Or is it?

Not a fan of New Year resolutions, simply because within six weeks these so called resolutions are swept under the carpet and forgotten, the end of a business year is an opportune time to consider alternatives. Why not become a "portfolio explorer" in 2012? Inspired by a passage in a book, portfolio exploration sounded like an exciting option to investigate. This approach is one way to help you delve into thinking more about who you are and what you can do (open your mind); either in your current business or perhaps your thinking will lead to something completely new? Being a very keen explorer myself, having travelled extensively across the globe, exploring has and continues to have a direct impact on both my personal and professional life. Life is an adventure and discovery is what it's all about. As a coach many of my clients, through a process of self discovery, have had an opportunity to add a few stamps to their passport as well!

What do you need to make 2012 your year of exploration?

Passport: A book of your values, skills and passions, in other words your CV of life.

Rucksack: Travel smarter, not harder. Carry only what you really need and adapt to suit.

Walking Boots: Stay grounded with a clear focus about what you wish to achieve. Take bold steps even on rocky terrain.

Umbrella:You never know what the weather will do! Consider the sections of your umbrella and the shelter you can offer.

Ticket: In the words of the Beatles, "I've got a ticket to ride". It's your choice to explore, to discover, and to embrace all that your destinations show you. It's up to you - will you buy a one way or return ticket?

Happy Travels in 2012!
